To-gather -- To see To say
TTWF aims to promote cross-cultural exchanges among international independent female performing artists and to empower them to develop cross-cultural and multi-disciplinary co-productions.
“To See” refers to observing the creative atmosphere of female artists, while “To Say” indicates an encouragement for them to speak out. Performing art is their area of expertise. We hope that, through whatever means of communication, creators and observers from different regions who also share our artistic vision will connect as roots and blossom like flowers, stimulating and inspiring each other in different cultural ecologies.
To-gather: " To See, To Say", The New Wave of Performing Arts Project for International Female Artists (short name TTWF) is promoting exchanges and collaborations between Chinese and Swiss women performing artists and building a vibrant performing arts network.
In May-June 2024, Nicole Seiler, as the second TTWF participating artist, took part in an ecological study tour of folk performance culture in Southwest China, organised by Chongqing YINZI Theatre, whose theme was ‘Disappearing and Future Performances!’
The study tour included both creative exchanges with the Technology Art Studio of the Department of Transmedia Art, School of Experimental Art, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, involving the creation of technology and art, and the sharing of works such as how Chat GPT intervenes in the creation of performances. She also visited independent art institutions such as Chongqing Ware Space, Chongqing Shifang Art Centre, Chongqing HE Base, Chongqing Recess Theatre, and Chengdu Yuerge Dance Creation Studio. The most special thing is that Nicole came to the Tibetan mountainous area at an altitude of 3,500 metres for the first time to study the Tibetan Pot Dance and gain a deeper understanding of the original performing arts in western China. At the performance site of the Pot Dance, Nicole, Hu Yin, and the resident team all unconsciously got involved in the rich and spontaneous atmosphere of the local dance during the visit.
